Otira Hotel, OTIRA, West Coast

 Otira is a tiny hamlet nestled in the mountains of Arthurs Pass National Park.  The hotel was built in the 1860's as a coach stop and the village dates from 1923 when the Otira railway tunnel was opened.  In its heyday, Otira was home to some six hundred workers and their families before it was sold in 1989 to private enterprise.  The Hennahs took over in 1998 and are always working to improve the houses and hotel.
